My Voice, Quiet Though It Is
Time for a little pontificating on the value of the blog. I spent a lot of time just surfing tonight and looking at a lot of blogs. Wow. There are some seriously messed up people out there. I think that it is good to use a blog to express an opinion, even share what is going on in your life, but when you share your heart I think that can be so dangerous. I read a blog some time ago from a kid in the church where we used to attend. My first thought was that he needed counseling. But what I realized was that he was just being open and honest with how he felt. His main grip was the small town where he lived. I suppose that there is nothing really wrong with that. But, he cut down the town and a lot of the people in it, and the ways that it worked. It was kind of sad. He spoke like a prisoner.

This causes me to think of the real value of the net. Information. It is the currency of the net. Google is poised to receive 3 billion dollars in the IPO and Fool speculates that they have a potential market cap of 30 billion. That is some serious cash! They are rumored to be seriously looking at buying some interesting firms such as Monster.com and others. So what does this have to do with my evening ramble? Information. With a click on Google we are spinning around the globe gathering answers to questions that we have. It boggles the mind.

I think that is what is driving my thoughts on TheDigitalLife. What value do I hope to bring to the world. I know, it is just a matter of getting all of those pieces together. Soon. I think that I have developed a pretty healthy web strategy. I have some interesting revenue streams which should eventually generate some good cash flows. It will likely never be a full time venture, don't really want it to. But it will be something that will pay for the site and some more tools in my hobbies. This is going to be a fun ride!
